Overview
Freya, the Valkyrie, is a powerful fighter who excels in close-range combat with her enhanced basic attacks and strong shield mechanics. After her rework, she now has more consistent damage output, smoother skill chaining, and better sustain in team fights. She dominates the EXP Lane, capable of dueling most fighters and snowballing after her first core item. Freya's skills give her both burst and sustained damage, making her dangerous in both 1v1 and team engagements. Freya's combo revolves around skill-enhanced Basic Attacks and timing her ultimate (Valkyrie Descent) for shield and burst potential. She scales incredibly well into mid-late game, especially once she secures her core items like War Axe and Dominance Ice. She fits best in compositions that allow her to dive the backline while allies provide peel or follow-up CC.
Strengths
Excellent Duelist: Freya can win most 1v1 matchups in the EXP lane due to her shield, lifesteal, and fast skill rotation. Strong Snowball Potential: Once she gets her first item, she can continuously pressure side lanes and force rotations. Flexible Playstyle: Can build both semi-tank or full fighter depending on team needs. Good Teamfight Presence: Her Ultimate grants AoE damage and shield, allowing her to dive into the enemy backline safely. Crowd Control Utility: Freya's Skill 2 (Leap of Faith) provides reliable airborne CC that can interrupt dashes or channeling abilities. Great Sustain: Her passive and ultimate allow her to stay longer in fights and trade effectively.
Weaknesses
Vulnerable to CC: Despite her shield, Freya struggles when heavily crowd-controlled, especially against heroes like Franco or Akai. Requires Items to Shine: Freya's early game before completing her first core item can be weak and punishable. Short Range: She must commit fully to fights, and retreating after diving is difficult without team backup. Mana Management: Early game mana consumption can limit her ability to trade or spam abilities. Kited Easily: Ranged heroes like Esmeralda, Masha, or Thamuz can kite her if she misses her Leap of Faith.
Best build
1. War Axe — Core item for damage and sustain 2. Tough Boots / Warrior Boots — Depends on enemy composition 3. Dominance Ice — Anti-heal and defense 4. Bloodlust Axe — Spell vamp for sustain 5. Blade of Despair / Malefic Roar — Late-game burst 6. Immortality / Athena's Shield — Defensive finisher
Special build for hard opponents and full of cc
Actually, there are still many items to counter your opponent, don't just buy items, match the items to your counter opponent. If your opponent has a lot of mages, use the initial anti-mage item.
Emblem
This emblem is very suitable, If you are still in doubt there are other emblems below.
Special emblem for hard opponents and cc
For the War Cry emblem, it's also okay, but I prefer Brave Smite, because it's strong against opponents and can survive if you understand the combo skill well.
Battle Spell
Flicker — For repositioning or aggressive dives Vengeance — For sustained damage trades in lane If the enemy hero is full of cc then use the pufiry spell.
Gameplay tips and combo skill
Time your ultimate during enemy burst windows to maximize survivability. Always bait out enemy CC before diving. Use Skill 2 smartly to cancel enemy dashes or engage surprise fights. Focus on split pushing when your team is safe to pressure the map. Combo skill 1. Use Leap of Faith (Skill 2) to initiate. 2. Follow with Power of Einherjar (Skill 1) for enhanced basic attacks. 3. Activate Valkyrie Descent (Ultimate) mid-combo for shield and massive AoE burst. 4. Chase with empowered basic attacks until target is eliminated.
