Overview
Freya is a powerful fighter who excels in 1v1 duels and close combat. She gains shields and bonus attack speed when using skills, making her strong in prolonged fights. Her ultimate skill (Valkyrie Descent) boosts her power greatly, allowing her to jump into fights and destroy enemies quickly. Freya's early game can be slow, but once she gets items, she becomes a dominant force in team fights and can even solo the Turtle or Lord with ease.
Strengths
Strengths: 1. Strong Duelist: Freya excels in 1v1 situations thanks to her shield and stun combination. 2. Good Sustain: Her passive ability grants shields with every skill cast, allowing her to survive longer in fights. 3. High Burst Damage: Her skill combo can quickly eliminate squishy heroes. 4. Effective Tower Pusher: With the attack speed boost from her skills, she can destroy turrets efficiently. 5. Flexible Playstyle: She can be built for sustain (defense) or burst (damage), depending on team needs. Best Situations: When facing melee heroes in the EXP lane. When your team needs a durable fighter who can also initiate fights.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses: 1. Skill-Dependent: Relies heavily on abilities and cooldowns to fight effectively; becomes weak if skills are mistimed or used inefficiently. 2. Easily Kited: Has difficulty dealing with heroes that can attack from a long range or maintain distance. 3. Mana-Hungry Early Game: Excessive use of skills can quickly deplete her mana in the early stages of the game. 4. Requires Farming: Performs poorly in the early game and depends on acquiring core items to reach full potential. Counters: Heroes with long-range poke abilities (e.g., Karrie, Clint, Wanwan). Heroes with strong crowd control that can interrupt her combos.
Freya Damage build
This build focuses on maximizing Freya's attack speed and critical damage while keeping her durable in fights. Windtalker and Scarlet Phantom boost her speed and allow her to trigger her passive shields faster. Berserker's Fury gives huge crit bursts for quick kills. Haas's Claws provides lifesteal for sustain, and Immortality gives a second chance during late-game team fights.
Assassin emblem
Fighter Emblem is the best choice for Freya because it increases her durability and damage in close combat. It gives extra HP, lifesteal, and adaptive attack, which help her survive longer during fights. You can use talents like Festival of Blood for spell vamp or Bravery for more attack power to make her stronger in 1v1 situations and tower pushes.
Battle Spell
Description: Inspire is the best spell for Freya because it boosts her attack speed and damage, allowing her to burst enemies quickly and destroy turrets faster. Use it right after activating her ultimate for maximum impact in 1v1 duels or when pushing towers.
Early Game Aggression
Hero's Tips & Tricks for this Phase Freya is one of the strongest 1v1 EXP laners/junglers at Level 4, as her Ultimate: Valkyrie Descent gives her a massive, temporary power boost (damage, shield, and a full set of Sacred Orbs). Laning Precautions: Be Aggressive: Don't be afraid to take trades. Use Spirit Combo (Skill 2) to harass and gain a shield. Your shield scales with your Physical Attack, giving you surprising sustain. Guard Against CC: Your biggest weakness is Crowd Control (CC). If the enemy has a strong CC hero (like Minsitthar, Guinevere, or a Tank with a long stun), save your Leap of Faith (Skill 1) or Flicker for a possible escape/disengage. Maintain Orbs: Always use basic attacks between your Skill 2 casts to keep your Sacred Orb passive stacked. This ensures you can chain your Skill 2 to its powerful third (and fourth) knock-up cast. Team Fight Strategies: Focus on Ganking/Objective: Once you hit Level 4, look to gank a nearby lane (Mid/Gold) or contest the first Turtle. You can easily burst down squishy heroes. The Engage: Your ideal combo is S1 (Leap) > Ult > Inspire/Basic Attacks > S2 (Combo). The Ultimate gives you the stats to commit, and Inspire (if you use it) maximizes the burst damage from your basic attacks and Sacred Orbs. Target Selection: Prioritize the squishiest enemy Mage or Marksman first, as you can often delete them before the fight truly begins.
Best With Jawhead
80% co-op win rate
Jawhead is a fantastic initiator who locks down targets for Freya's burst. Jawhead's Unstoppable Force (Ultimate) stuns and suppresses a key enemy, ensuring they cannot escape Freya's dive. More importantly, Jawhead can use his Ejector (Skill 2) to throw an enemy directly into Freya's range, or, if Freya is having trouble reaching the backline, Jawhead can throw Freya herself deep into the enemy formation. This allows Freya to bypass the enemy frontline and use her Ultimate/Skill 2 combo on the squishy heroes immediately.
Watch Out For Angela
100% counter win rate
Angela is arguably Freya's strongest synergy, amplifying her damage and compensating for her dive vulnerability. Freya needs to dive deep to deal damage, making her vulnerable to burst damage and CC. Angela's Heartguard (Ultimate) attaches a massive shield to Freya, greatly increasing her survivability. Crucially, while attached, Angela can use her Love Waves (Skill 1) to constantly slow enemies and her Puppet-on-a-String (Skill 2) to root targets, allowing Freya to stay glued to her target and keep stacking her Sacred Orbs for maximum sustained damage.
