Overview
Release Date: September 18, 2018 Price: 32,000 Battle Points or 599 Diamonds Role: Fighter (EXP Lane) Specialty: Chase / Burst / Sustained DPS Lore / Background Thamuz, known as the "Lord Lava," is a ruthless commander of the Abyss. He despises weakness and leads the Fire Demons with burning rage. He believes only the strong are worthy to survive, fueling his endless desire to dominate battlefields. Skill Set 1. Passive: Grand Lord Lava Every few attacks or when scythes hit, enemies take bonus True Damage and burn for extra damage over time. This makes his basic attacks hurt more in prolonged trades. 2. Skill 1: Molten Scythes Thamuz hurls his scythes forward. They deal continuous damage while spinning, slowing enemies hit. After a short time, the scythes return to him, dealing more damage on the way back. Great for poking and zoning in lane. 3. Skill 2: Chasm Trample Thamuz leaps to a designated area, dealing AoE damage and briefly slowing enemies. If his scythes are out, they instantly return to him, refreshing their availability. This is his main chase tool and gap closer. 4. Ultimate: Cauterant Inferno Thamuz summons an inferno around him, greatly increasing his attack speed, dealing continuous AoE damage, and restoring HP whenever he hits enemies. This ability turns him into a juggernaut in extended fights, letting him dive and sustain against multiple opponents.
Strengths
High sustain and durability thanks to healing from his ultimate. Strong lane presence and pressure early game with his first skill and passive true damage bursts. Good chase capacity via his skill 2, especially when scythes are out. Excellent in extended fights: the longer team fights last, the more Thamuz benefits.
Weaknesses
Vulnerable to crowd control (stuns, silences) which can interrupt his damage output. Without items or early leads, he can struggle vs ranged poke. Skill cooldowns matter — if his main skills are on cooldown, his threat drops. Needs careful timing of ultimate; overcommitting can put him in danger.
FIGHTER BUILD
Here is a solid build path and situational adjustments for Thamuz (adapt as needed). 1. Tough Boots: for durability and sometimes magic protection. 2. Corrosion Scythe: great synergy with his passive (chance to deal true damage) and adds a slow effect. 3. Demon Hunter Sword: to shred high-HP targets. 4. Dominance Ice: reduces enemy healing, slows their attack speed and helps against sustained damage heroes. 5. Athena's Shield: to counter magic burst opponents. 6. Immortality: gives a second chance in late game team fights. Situational / Optional Items Blade Armor: for reflecting basic attack damage against marksmen. Sea Halberd: to counter heroes with high lifesteal or healing. Malefic Roar: when enemy team has heavy armor. Twilight Armor / Antique Cuirass: for additional physical defense vs burst.
FIGHTER EMBLEM
Fighter Emblem is the best choice for Thamuz. Suggested talents: Tier 1: Firmness — provides extra physical/magic defense early. Tier 2: Festival of Blood — increases spell vamp which synergizes with his sustain. Tier 3: War Cry / Brave Smite — helps increase his damage or sustain in fights. If you are in jungle, some players swap Festival for Seasoned Hunter to speed up jungle clears.
Battle Spell
Vengeance is a great fit for Thamuz when engaging in fights, especially in team combat scenarios. When activated, Vengeance gives Thamuz damage reduction and returns a portion of damage to enemies. This helps him sustain in fights, absorb burst, and outlast opponents while he's in the thick of battle. Because Thamuz thrives in prolonged engagements with his healing and sustain from his ultimate, Vengeance complements that style by giving him durability to survive counterattacks. (If the situation demands more mobility, Flicker is also usable, but the focus is on staying alive and fighting rather than blinking around.)
QUICK TIPS
Use Molten Scythes (Skill 1) early to farm, poke, and zone. When scythes are out, leverage your passive chances to deal true damage. Use Chasm Trample (Skill 2) to jump in, chase, or reset your scythe. Activate Ultimate (Cauterant Inferno) before committing to big fights — it gives you healing, bonus HP, and attack speed. In team fights, stay in the zone, keep attacking to heal, and avoid being crowd controlled.
STRATEGIES BY GAME PHASE
Early Game Be aggressive in the EXP lane: pressure your opponent with Skill 1 often. Try to force trades early, especially before enemy gets items. Watch for jungle ganks; you have sustain, but early CC can kill you. Use your passive bursts to poke and punish mispositions. Mid Game Roam to assist with team fights or invade enemy jungle. Use Skill 2 to join fights or catch fleeing heroes. In fights, enter once your team initiates; let your healing from ultimate sustain you. Target backline squishies, but avoid diving too deep alone. Late Game You become a frontliner with huge sustain — stay alive and dish continuous damage. Prioritize threats and peel for your carries if needed. Use ultimate zones wisely to control space in team fights. Be cautious of heavy CC; keep track of enemy stuns and act accordingly.
Best With Atlas
They can lock enemies so Thamuz can follow up with sustained damage.
Watch Out For Franco
Their stuns, silences, or displacement can interrupt Thamuz's flow and kill him early.
