Overview
Obsidia is a formidable ruler from the Abyss faction, characterized by a dark and powerful narrative driven by a motivation for revenge and dominance. Her lore connects her to the deep history of the Abyss, with her rise fueled by betrayal, notably from figures like Thamuz and Alice. Her visual design reflects her abyssal origins, often compared to Aamon's aesthetic but with a more brutal and powerful edge. Her weapon is a unique, living spine that evolves as she battles. Obsidia's official role is Marksman, but her kit gives her a unique blend of high-scaling, sustained damage and burst/execution capabilities, making her feel like a Marksman/Assassin hybrid.
Strengths
Exceptional late-game scaling through her Bone Shard passive, powerful single-target burst, and an Ultimate that provides unprecedented mobility lockdown against high-dash heroes.
Weaknesses
She is relatively weak in the early game due to the need to stack her passive and is vulnerable to being shut down by early-game aggressors or heroes with high burst damage.
Critical Burst
This build is an aggressive and high-risk strategy for Obsidia that prioritizes maximizing the chance and damage of her Critical Hits. It aims for a spectacular late-game power spike where every Basic Attack, especially when empowered by her Bone Shards passive, has a high chance to crit for massive burst damage against any target, particularly squishy heroes
High Burst Damage
This talent is selected to ensure that once Obsidia commits with her Flicker-Ultimate combo, her damage is sufficient to guarantee the kill. Obsidia is designed to execute high-priority squishy targets, and a damage boost ensures the elimination. Because Obsidia's ultimate locks her onto a target and disables their dashes, this emblem set leans into her hybrid nature, rewarding the user for diving in and quickly eliminating a single enemy.
Battle Spell
You should choose flicker because Obsidia's main defensive skill, Skill 2: Phantom Shadow meld, only provides a temporary Movement Speed boost and is not a true dash/blink. This makes her vulnerable, especially when committed to a fight. Flicker allows you to use Obsidia's powerful Ultimate, which is normally a straight, predictable skill shot, with surprise and precision. 1. Surprise Approach (Bush/Flank): Position yourself slightly outside of a team fight or a gank target's vision (e.g., in a bush). 2. Flicker In: Instantly use Flicker toward the high-value enemy target (the enemy Marksman, Mage, or Assassin). 3. Ultimate Lockdown (Ultimate --> Target): Immediately cast Ultimate: Hunt of Bone. Because you are now in melee range, the projectile is guaranteed to hit. 4. Execute: The target is stunned and has their movement skills disabled. Use Skill 1: Abyssal Bone Needle followed by Bone Shard-empowered Basic Attacks to rapidly execute the stunned target. Skill 2 (Exit Strategy): Use your Skill 2: Phantom Shadowmeld for the movement speed boost to quickly retreat from the danger zone.
Sovereign Execution Phase
Obsidia's dominant phase which begins once she has accumulated a high number of Bone Shards from her passive and completed her essential core items, typically around the mid-to-late game. During this phase, her Basic Attacks become devastating due to the rapid, multi-hit burst damage delivered by her fully-stacked Bone Shards, especially when amplified by Critical items. This transforms her into a premier executioner who can instantly eliminate squishy enemy heroes. Furthermore, her Ultimate, Hunt of Bone, functions as an unblockable assassination tool, allowing her to bypass the frontline and lockdown high-mobility threats, effectively turning key team fights into uncontested 5v4 scenarios. This immense, self-sustaining damage output and unparalleled pick-off potential establish her as the dominant force that dictates the end-game and siege power.
Best With Floryn
Floryn is arguably Obsidia's best partner because she solves Obsidia's two biggest problems: early-game fragility and mid-game vulnerability during Ultimate execution. - Sustained Protection: Obsidia needs to constantly attack minions and heroes to stack her passive. Floryn's Skill 1 provides constant healing and damage, allowing Obsidia to stay in the Gold Lane longer to safely farm and stack. - Massive Damage Boost: Floryn's passive grant her ally an extra item slot, giving a permanent bonus to Physical Attack and Magic Power. This boost immediately increases the damage of Obsidia's Basic Attacks and her Bone Shard follow-up hits, accelerating her "Sovereign Execution Phase." - Global Insurance: Obsidia's Ultimate, Hunt of Bone, forces her into close proximity with the enemy. Floryn can use her Ultimate: Bloom to heal Obsidia globally, protecting her from burst damage and counter-attack while Obsidia is locked onto a target.
Watch Out For Belerick
Belerick is widely considered the most reliable hard counter to Obsidia, turning her powerful late-game basic attacks into a suicide mechanism for her. - Damage Reflection: His passive and the Vengeance battle spell reflect physical damage. Because Obsidia's massive damage comes from her rapid-fire basic attacks and Bone Shards, locking onto Belerick with her Ultimate means she often kills herself faster than he can. - Anti-Attack Speed: Building Dominance Ice is core on him anyway, which applies a huge slow to her attack speed and Lifesteal, crippling her DPS.
