A powerful leonin, wanting to shine again. As his revamped self unleash his axe in the battlefield.
Strengths
He is strong in mid-late game. As his passive scales with level, and is strong during clashes with him having is cc immunity and damage reduction from his ult and sustainability with his basic attack and skills.
Weaknesses
His weakness is mostly him stacking his passive early during laning.
Sustain/Tank
This is mostly the go to set, although some items can be optional, since the game is very situational. But Always keep in mind to have war axe as an essential item for him, also having queens wings for suvivalibility, oracle for enchanced healing with his passive and skills sets. Sea halberd can be optional too, using dominance ice can grant him more in the tanky side. Immortality also can be optional as the last item, it really mostly depends on what you are facing and how the match goes. But this is just for me a balanced set, giving him a balance of being tanky, sustaining, and having him still deal damage.
Fighter/Tank (Early-mid)
Giving him this emblem set, gives him more stability early-mid game. Using his 2nd skill to poke and activate Brave smite to heal. Having tenacity also makes him more tankier for early ganks. Having also thrill or this can be optional aside from fatal and inspire, but choosing thrill, made it more balance to have him deal a bit more damage early.
Battle Spell
Since its going for a sidelane. Utilizing vengeance is one of the best spells for him to use. Gaining him more utility to survive clashes, providing him more reduction while using his ult, or buying time for his teammates to either gank or for stalling the enemy team.
Tips
Aulus is a charge and chase hero, and can also be an initiator. Its best to have a tank who set or a healer to him shine more during clashes. He is weak when it comes to being first in the clash, so make sure you be the second or third to join in. Your positioning also matters with him also like a marksman or a mage, as his main damage source is his basic attack. Always last hit minions with your 2nd skill when you are at a disavantage. Make sure to be patient early on and be dominant later on. During laning, it is best to go for second skill first, it is his poke and clear. Avoid fighting early and focus on getting your war axe as a first item. Also, utilize your passive-keeping the enemies out and for poking, its like moskov passive. In skillset wise, always remember to charge your first skill, alwags charge it. Since its a really powerful cc immunity-its like having a free purify. Him having it charged, you can survive early stun ganks or even clash sets, making him turn the tides during clashes. Also him charge his first, he charges also his passive and war axe, making it easier for him to trigger his enchanced passive during clash. Also a tip to prolong your passive and war axe, hit creeps or enemies with your second skill. Also use your first skill in the last second your passive and war axe goes out. You can also use your 2nd skill to jump over small walls. His ult, or third skill-use it like a battle spell. Either to get out a of sticky situation or to follow up a clash. You can also do a flicker combo here.
Best With Floryn
Her world heal and flower item, since aulus is a charge hero during clashes, and him being still a basic attack hero. He can utilize her skills in a more dependantly.
Watch Out For Yu Zhong
Yu Zhong is a very bad enemy to face with for almost every exp lane in the early game. Him having sustain early passive and still doing damage. Make sure to either not choose Aulus when fighting Yu Zhong or, avoid fighting him early on.
