Marcel Ultimate Guide

Overview

This hero is overpowered in team fights. He enables his teammates to escape, avoid being chased, or reposition effectively. Additionally, he cannot be easily stunned by close-range enemy stun skills because his passive ability stuns enemies when they get near him. However, this hero is not recommended for solo play; you need teammates who understand when you use your time-stop ability on enemies. Marcel, as this hero is called, is a support with strong crowd control capabilities. His passive "Platinum Snap" automatically stuns nearby enemies, deals damage, and provides shields to himself and nearby teammates. His ultimate "Golden Hour" can freeze a large area, stopping both enemies and projectiles, which can turn the tide of team fights but requires good coordination with teammates to avoid freezing allies.

Strengths

Marcel does not have or benefit from attack speed. Even if you buy attack speed items, they will have no effect on him. His damage is low from early to late game, even when paired with damage items. However, his strength lies in stopping enemies from moving through his passive and ultimate skills, which create time stop effects. He also has a dash skill, allowing him to easily catch up to enemies. When he uses his skills to stop enemies in their tracks, his teammates can easily catch up and attack.

Weaknesses

His weaknesses are that he deals little damage and is heavily dependent on his teammates. Even if damage items are purchased, he cannot kill enemies alone, not even if the enemy stays completely still. Additionally, not all heroes' long-range attack skills can be delayed by Marcel's ultimate. Because of this, you need to pair him with heroes whose abilities can be delayed by his skills, without proper team composition, he may end up being a hindrance to the team.

cc resilience and balance damage reduction build

Magic Boots provide additional early game skill cooldown reduction. Dire Hit is used for gaining gold and experience when revealing enemies and hitting them. This works best for Marcel because his passive can stop enemy pursuits or disable their skills. Marcel also has a dash skill. Thunder Belt deals true damage and its passive only works with basic attacks. This makes it perfect for Marcel because his passive is counted as a basic attack, allowing him to stack the Thunder Belt passive in the early game. Brute Force Breastplate gives crowd control resilience, and Marcel can get away easily when using it. Pair it with Athena's Shield for burst magic attack reduction and Dominance Ice for additional magic and physical defense. Dominance Ice also reduces enemy regeneration and shields. Chastise Pauldron slows enemy basic attacks and provides health regeneration, which is crucial when Marcel is low on health.

Burst Magic and Physical Defense

Magic Boots provide additional early game skill cooldown reduction. Dire Hit grants gold and experience when revealing enemies and attacking them. This works best with Marcel, whose passive can stop enemy pursuits or disable their skills. Marcel also has a dash skill for mobility. Thunder Belt deals true damage and its passive only activates with basic attacks. This makes it perfect for Marcel because his passive is counted as a basic attack, allowing him to stack the Thunder Belt effect in the early game. For defense, Antique Cuirass offers burst physical protection. Athenas Shield provides burst magic damage reduction while Dominance Ice adds both magic and physical defense. Dominance Ice also reduces enemy regeneration and shield effectiveness. Oracle provides extra magic and physical defense along with skill cooldown reduction, and it boosts Marcels own regeneration.

Damage plus Mobility

The Tank Emblem is the best choice for Marcel because he does not benefit from damage items or emblems. Concussive Blast deals damage that will greatly increase when using a tank build. With Marcels passive, which counts as a basic attack, he can activate Concussive Blast simply by walking past enemies. Vitality provides extra health in the early game.

Damage plus low Flicker and skill cooldown

Pull Yourself Together is great for Marcel as it greatly reduces the cooldown of Flicker. The lower Flickers cooldown is, the more surprise attacks Marcel can launch against enemy players. Inspire provides additional skill cooldown reduction for Marcel, which can greatly impact gameplay from early to late game. Lastly Concussive Blast deals damage that increases significantly with a tank build. Marcels passive counts as a basic attack so he can activate Concussive Blast simply by walking past enemies. Vitality gives extra health in the early game.

Battle Spell

Flicker is the best choice for Marcel. By combining it with his second skill, he can launch surprise attacks against enemies, making it impossible for them to escape or dodge his skill.

Team Coordination

Here are some Tips early game plays to help Marcel reach his stronger mid to late game phase. Stick close to your tank or exp laner, stay within their protective range when clearing lanes or contesting objectives like the first turtle. Avoid wandering alone into enemy jungle or unvision areas, as his low health and defense make him an easy target for ganks. Use your dash skill wisely, saving it primarily to engage enemies when your teammates are ready to follow up or to escape dangerous situations. Prioritize vision control, let your exp lane teammates check bushes instead of you, because you can be easily killed if enemies are hiding there. Use your skills to support them when needed. Focus on assisting rather than fighting directly, use your passive to stun enemies who get too close to your carry, and hold onto your ultimate for moments when enemies group up to target your team. Never try to secure kills on your own, as your damage output is too low in the early stages. Farm efficiently alongside your team, helping clear minion waves and jungle camps only when your core heroes are present. This ensures you gain necessary levels and gold without taking resources your team needs to scale properly. Finally, avoid early team fights unless your side has a clear advantage, if outnumbered or underleveled, retreat and focus on farming until you have at least one defensive item like Athena's Shield to help you survive engagements.

Best With Granger

Granger and Marcel are perfectly compatible. Marcel's ultimate skill, Golden Hour, creates a frozen moment that stops all units and projectiles in the designated area. This allows Granger's first skill, Rhapsody, and ultimate skill, Death Sonata, to be effectively delayed or timed to land perfectly when enemies are immobilized. Additionally, since Marcel's ultimate makes enemies unable to act, Granger can safely channel and deliver his burst damage without fear of being interrupted or having his targets dodge away.

Watch Out For Karina

Karina counters Marcel effectively. Her first skill can neutralize and reflect basic attacks, and since Marcel's passive is classified as a basic attack, this allows Karina to turn his own ability against him. Additionally, Marcel is not a pure tank and lacks substantial durability, making him vulnerable to Karina's burst damage once she has negated his passive.
