Overview
Sora is the latest addition to Mobile Legends, infusing Cloud elements into his kit to provide unique gameplay. The main highlight of his kit is his shapeshifting ability, allowing him to alter between Fighter, Assassin and Tank forms. The transformations keep the fundamentals of his kit, while providing quality upgrades to all his skills to be better catered to different situations. This allows Sora to be flexible and adapt according to whether he requires burst or control.
Strengths
The core strength of Sora lies in his versatility. Through his Ultimate, Shifting Skies, Sora can transform into one of two forms. Swiping left activates Thunder form, which adopts a more assassin-oriented playstyle focused on fast damage execution and high burst potential. This form should be abused while laning or in 1v1 scenarios due to its unmatchable damage output and chase ability. Swiping right on his Ultimate activates Torrent form, which adopts a more tank-oriented playstyle focused on massive crowd control and initiation ability. This form should be utilized in big teamfights or Lord Sieges to disrupt the enemy formation and create space for the team. Sora's other key strength lies in the Immunity he gains when using his Ultimate. When becoming an Assassin, Sora gains the 'Untargetable' status, which allows him to evade life-threatening situations or provide him a safety net when chasing down enemies. When becoming a Tank, Sora gains CC Immunity. This allows him to engage with ease without being afraid to be punished by enemy Crowd Control effects. While both forms offer different perks to his gameplay, Sora players should learn to be easily adaptable to bring out his fullest potential.
Weaknesses
Sora's main weakness lies in his late game execution. Similar to other Exp Laners that dominate early game from just unlocking their Ultimate, Sora does not deliver anything new to the table once the game transcends into its later stages. In the late game, he is highly vulnerable to Burst damage and has higher difficulty finding enemies to pick-off. When picking Sora, it is important to exploit his Early game potential or pair him up with late game heroes for additional insurance. Another weakness of Sora is his vulnerability to crowd control effects. While he has decent CC Immunity in his respective forms, he can be easily caught out in his base Fighter form before he even gets to transform. This leaves him with no escape tool due to the animation times on both his Skill 1 and 2 and be of less value to the team.
Regen + CD Reduction
Tough Boots - Helps with CC Resistance to make up for his weaknesses and allows for higher chance of survival when being caught by enemy CC War Axe - Similar to most sustain Exp Laners that heavily rely on Spell Vamp, War Axe is Sora's core item. It provides him with tons of Spell Vamp and Sora can easily accumulate its stacks due to how his kit is engineered. Brute Force Breastplate - An all-rounded item that boosts Sora's stats overall and increases his survivability in all of his forms. It also provides CD Reduction which is a must have to refresh his Ultimate quicker and make full use of each Ultimate's 10s duration. Queen's Wings - This item is used for clutch escapes and increased chance of survival at low HP, all while allowing him to deal more damage the more HP he loses. Oracle - A less important item that provides more regen and cooldown reduction. Immortality - Late game survivability that provides a second chance for escape.
Spare Equipment
Dominance Ice - Can be prioritized after War Axe to provide Anti-Heal towards the enemy team, if they contain heroes that are heavily geared towards Spell Vamp, Regen or Heal. Rose Gold Meteor - With the recent adjustments to this item, Sora can benefit from it since his main role is Fighter and the attack he possesses provides sufficient Hybrid Defense. The Hybrid Defense provided also helps with the fact that Sora opts for a Hybrid Sustain Build instead of full Tank. Athena Shield (or any other defense item) - Built when enemy is snowballing or has threatening damage in late game teamfights.
Hybrid Fighter Spell Vamp
The Fighter emblem is chosen due to the additional Spell Vamp it provides since Sora is a skill-dependent hero. It also gives Hybrid Defense which allows him to have more survival in early game. Agility is chosen for Sora to roam around the map more effectively. Festival of Blood and Brave Smite complements the inherent Spell Vamp he gets from his emblem to boost his sustain in teamfights.
Battle Spell
Flicker is the recommended Battle Spell due to how well it pairs with his respective forms. - In Thunder form, Sora can use Flicker as a mobility tool to close the gap between himself and enemies, pairing it up with his Skill 2 double dash to chase them down. - In Torrent form, Sora can combo Flicker with his initial cast of his Ultimate to catch enemies off guard and initiate for the team. - Sora can also use Flicker as an escape tool to cover his weaknesses in the late game.
Early Game
I believe Early Game will be the most dominant for Sora as his power spike is attained with just his Ultimate and War Axe. This allows him to snowball out of control with ease since few heroes can fight him head on in early stages. During this stage, players should look for Solo Kill opportunities and play towards securing Turtles for the team. Do note that he is relatively weak on lane before Level 4, so players have to be more careful in the first 2 minutes of the game.
Best With Tigreal
100% co-op win rate
Sora pairs exceptionally well with Tigreal or any other set-up tank. Due to the CC potential Sora provides in Torrent form, they can layer their CC tools to keep enemy heroes locked down for prolonged periods of time.
Watch Out For Lesley
100% counter win rate
Sora is effective against heroes with little mobility or escape tools as he can easily catch them out in both his Thunder and Torrent forms. Lesley is a perfect example that becomes a sitting duck that is prone to Sora's dive and burst abilities.
