Overview
Passive: Power of Einherjar Basic Attacks grant Freya a stack of Sacred Orb (max 6). When Freya has 3 or more Sacred Orbs, her next Basic Attack is enhanced with bonus Attack Speed and a damage increase for a short duration. Orbs are also consumed by her other skills. Skill 1: Leap of Faith Freya leaps to a target location, dealing damage and pulling enemies towards her. Consumes 3 Sacred Orbs to cast. This is her primary initiation and CC tool. Skill 2: Valkyrie Slash Freya dashes a short distance and enhances her next Basic Attack. The skill has no cooldown and can be cast consecutively, consuming 1 Sacred Orb each time. This is her key tool for constant mobility, damage, and sustained fighting. Ultimate: Valkyrie Descent Freya transforms into her Valkyrie form, flying into the designated area. Upon landing, she deals damage, gains a significant shield, and her Basic Attacks are enhanced to deal ranged AoE Splash Damage for a duration.
Strengths
Exceptional Mobility: Skill 2 allows for rapid, consecutive dashes, making her incredibly hard to lock down and excellent for chasing or escaping. High Sustained Damage: Her Passive and Skill 2 allow for continuous damage output and trading, especially when combined with Attack Speed items. Backline Threat (Ultimate): Her Ultimate grants her ranged splash damage, allowing her to easily dive the backline and threaten multiple squishy heroes simultaneously. Good Laning/Jungle Clear: Her Skill 2 enhances Basic Attacks, making quick work of minions and jungle creeps.
Weaknesses
CC Vulnerability: Freya is still highly susceptible to chain Crowd Control (CC) effects, which can shut down her ability to generate Sacred Orbs and use her mobility. Orb Dependency: Her mobility and burst potential are entirely dependent on having Sacred Orbs. If she can't hit enemies to generate orbs, her effectiveness drops sharply. Vulnerable During Initiation: If she uses Leap of Faith (S1) without Ultimate up, she can be easily focused and burst down before she can sustain the fight.
FREYA BUILD
1. Tough Boots / Warrior Boots Movement/Defense Tough Boots are usually the better choice for Freya. They reduce the duration of Crowd Control (CC) effects, which is her biggest weakness, allowing her to continue generating Orbs and using Skill 2 for mobility even when targeted. 2. War Axe Sustained Damage Core Item. Provides Physical Attack, a crucial HP boost, and an easily activated passive that grants stacking Physical Penetration and Movement Speed. 3. Corrosion Scythe Attack Speed/Utility Core Attack Speed Item. This is essential to compensate for her lower base Attack Speed post-revamp. It provides a massive Attack Speed boost, and its passive slows the enemy upon hitting them with a Basic Attack. 4. Demon Hunter Sword (DHS) Attack Speed/Anti-Tank Core Damage Item. This provides more Attack Speed and a passive that deals a percentage of the target's current HP as extra physical damage. This item is what allows Freya to melt high-HP targets (Tanks and Fighters) quickly, ensuring she remains relevant even against tanky compositions. 5. Oracle Defense/Sustain Core Defensive Item. Grants significant Magic Defense, but the true value is its passive, which increases Shield Absorption and HP Regeneration Effects by 30%. 6. Immortality / Brute Force Late Game Defense Immortality is the safest late-game choice, providing a second chance after a risky dive. Brute Force Breastplate is a strong alternative if you need more consistent tankiness and mobility, as its stacking defense and movement speed synergize with her constant spamming of Skill 2.
FREYA EMBLEM
The Assassin Emblem is ideal for maximizing Freya's burst and damage output, making her a devastating backline disruptor, particularly effective when she is played as the team's main physical damage threat or in the Jungle role. Tier 1 Thrill (Physical Attack) Increases her Physical Attack stat, giving her higher early-game damage on her Basic Attacks and skills, which aids in farming and early dueling. This is the crucial damage-focused choice, directly increasing the power of her enhanced Basic Attacks and Skill 2 spam. Tier 2 Bargain Hunter (Utility) Reduces the cost of equipment by a percentage. Highly recommended. Freya's effectiveness relies heavily on stacking Attack Speed items quickly. This talent accelerates her farm, allowing her to reach her critical item power spikes (Corrosion Scythe, DHS) faster than the enemy. Tier 3 (Key Talent) Killing Spree (Sustain/Burst) Restores a percentage of HP and grants a significant burst of Movement Speed upon securing a kill or assist. Core Talent. This talent provides the essential "reset" needed for Freya's dive potential. The instant HP recovery and speed boost allow her to survive retaliation after a kill, rapidly reposition, or escape to continue hunting the next target. By choosing the Assassin Emblem with Thrill and Killing Spree, you emphasize a fast, aggressive, and rewarding playstyle: Maximized Damage: Thrill ensures her damage is consistently high from the start. Faster Scaling: Bargain Hunter ensures she gets her late-game items online quicker. Unstoppable Momentum: Killing Spree ensures that once Freya starts getting kills, she becomes nearly unstoppable due to the continuous healing and speed boost.
Battle Spell
A versatile spell for utility, defense, and advanced initiation. While Freya has high natural mobility with Skill 2, Flicker is used for two main reasons: 1. Advanced Combos: You can use your Ultimate, then Flicker into a perfect backline position. 2. Escape/Repositioning: It allows you to instantly escape heavy Crowd Control (CC) or jump a wall when your Skill 2 dashes are not enough. Usage: Excellent for a crucial, unmissable initiation (S1 > Flicker to adjust position > Ultimate) or as a defensive measure to escape when your shield from the Ultimate runs out.
QUICK TIPS
Pre-Charge Orbs: Before initiating a fight, always use minions or jungle monsters to charge up to 6 Sacred Orbs. This ensures you have maximum resources for mobility and enhanced Basic Attacks right when the fight starts. The S2 Dance: Use Skill 2 (Spirit Combo) not just for movement, but as a repositioning tool between Basic Attacks. This helps you constantly adjust your distance, dodge enemy skill shots, and maintain the pressure. Ultimate Positioning: When using your Ultimate (Valkyrie Descent), aim to land behind the enemy front line. The ranged AoE splash damage is devastating to grouped-up squishy heroes, and positioning behind them cuts off their escape route.
STRATEGIES BY PHASE
Early Game (Farming & Dueling): Focus on rushing to Level 4. Use your Skill 2 to quickly clear the minion wave. If matched against a weaker hero in the EXP Lane, challenge them with your charged Sacred Orbs; use Skill 1 to initiate and your enhanced Basic Attacks to dominate the duel and secure an early kill. Prioritize reaching your core item, War Axe, as fast as possible. Mid Game (Ganking & Skirmishes): Rotate aggressively after clearing your lane to gank the Mid and Gold lanes. Your high mobility with Skill 2 makes you an effective surprise threat. Use your Ultimate strategically to guarantee kills during 2v2 or 3v3 skirmishes, ensuring you secure objectives like turrets or the Turtle. Look for prolonged engagements where you can continuously stack War Axe and utilize your high sustain. Late Game (Backline Dive): Do not initiate solo. Wait for your Tank or Support to apply initial Crowd Control. Your role is to immediately use your Ultimate to leap past the enemy frontline and target the enemy Marksman and Mage. The ranged AoE splash damage is crucial here. Use Skill 2 spam to stick to your targets and continuously evade incoming skill shots, guaranteeing a quick wipe of the enemy backline before retreating.
Best With Atlas
100% co-op win rate
Provides massive, unmissable, hard Crowd Control (CC) with his Fatal Links, which groups the enemies tightly. This creates a perfect opportunity for Freya to use her Ultimate and deal massive ranged AoE splash damage to all targets caught in the CC.
Watch Out For Minsitthar
20% counter win rate
Is a hard counter as his Ultimate prevents Freya from using any dash skills (S2), completely negating her key source of mobility and escape.
