Overview

Background / Lore With her latest update, Freya fully embraces her role as a Valkyrie—an ethereal warrior inspired by Norse mythology. The revamp reintroduces her as a fierce, mobile fighter whose power flows through her accumulation of Sacred Orbs. She channels the spirit of the Einherjar (fallen warriors), using their strength to slash through her enemies and sustain in battle with divine resilience. Her new design and animations highlight her status as a noble warrior, combining valor, aerial grace, and raw physical might. Revamp & Release The revamped Freya (Valkyrie) was officially released on November 5, 2025. Her visual redesign draws from her Valkyrie archetype, featuring Norse-inspired armor and celestial motifs to reflect her status as a battle-borne guardian. Role & Specialty Role: Fighter Specialty: High mobility, sustained DPS, dive / skirmish Primary Use: EXP lane or Jungle With her revamp, Freya becomes more flexible: able to chase, burst, and sustain, rather than being purely a tanky bruiser. Skills (Revamped) Passive: Sacred Orb (Power of Einherjar) Freya now stores up to 6 Sacred Orbs, which regenerate automatically when she's out of combat. Each orb consumed boosts her next basic attack with an attack-speed bonus, making her more dangerous when she dives into fights. Skill 1: Leap of Faith Freya leaps forward and smashes the ground with her shield, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies and knocking them airborne for a short duration. Additionally, using this ability grants her two Sacred Orbs, which directly fuels her offensive potential. Skill 2: Valkyrie Slash This is now a core part of her kit: Freya can spam this dash/slash as long as she has Sacred Orbs (no base cooldown). When she consumes orbs, each cast increases her attack speed significantly, allowing for rapid, continuous attacks. Ultimate: Valkyrie Descent Freya dives into a target area, dealing area physical damage and slowing enemies on impact.

Strengths

1. High Mobility and Aggressive Dive Potential With her revamped kit, Freya becomes much more mobile. Her Skill 2 (Valkyrie Slash) can be cast repeatedly as long as she has "Sacred Orbs," which makes her extremely flexible in fights. This lets her dash in and out of combat quickly, chasing squishy targets or disengaging when things go wrong. According to guides, this mobility gives her a much stronger presence in skirmishes than before. 2. Sustained Damage + Burst Hybrid Freya's passive allows her to store up to six Sacred Orbs, which significantly boost her next basic attack's speed. She isn't just a pure burst champion anymore, she can both dive in for a quick combo and maintain consistent damage output as her orbs regenerate. This makes her very deadly in 1v1 duels and also in extended team fights. 3. Improved Survivability and Lifesteal Her ultimate (Valkyrie Descent) grants her a shield when she lands and, in her Valkyrie state, her basic attacks heal her based on her physical attack. This makes her more sustainable in fights: she can dive, deal damage, and recover, rather than relying solely on burst or being too squishy. 4. CC Immunity During Key Moments In her Ultimate, Freya gains crowd control immunity while she dives in for her descent. This allows her to avoid being interrupted mid-engagement, making her initiation more reliable and dangerous. 5. Strong Duel and Split-Push Potential Thanks to her orb mechanic and enhanced basic attack speed, Freya can win duels effectively. She scales very well in 1v1 matchups because the more she fights, the more orbs she builds, and the faster and stronger she becomes. Also, her mobility and sustain make her capable of applying pressure in side lanes, rotating to pick off targets or escape when needed. 6. Strategic Depth and Flexibility The revamp gives Freya more tactical options: she can build for burst, sustain or a balanced playstyle.

Weaknesses

1. Squishier Than Expected While Freya's revamp gives her more mobility and burst, she loses the high durability she once had. Several players note that despite new sustain tools, she still feels fragile and can be quickly shut down by crowd control. 2. Reliance on Sacred Orbs Her new mechanics depend heavily on Sacred Orbs. If she spends all her orbs, her damage and attack-speed potential drop significantly, making her more predictable and easier to punish. Generating orbs requires time out of combat, which can be risky when pressured. 3. Less Effective Without Boosted Second Skill According to her rework, her Skill 2 (Valkyrie Slash) becomes much weaker if not enhanced by her first skill, meaning poor orb management can severely limit her combat performance. 4. Reduced Shield From Ultimate Her new ultimate gives a heal and ranged attacks, but the shield she used to get from her old ultimate is significantly reduced in the revamp. This makes her more vulnerable during her initial dive and less tanky during fights. 5. Vulnerable to Crowd Control Despite having CC immunity during her ultimate jump, she can be heavily punished before or after that window. Fighters or mages with high CC can lock her down when her mobility or orb-boosted states are unavailable. 6. High Skill Floor / Learning Curve The new playstyle demands strong orb management, precise timing of skills, and smart decision-making. Many players feel she's become more difficult to master compared to her older, more straightforward kit.

FREYA BUILD

1. Warrior Boots Provides physical defense and movement speed, allowing Freya to both initiate fights and survive early exchanges. This helps her take advantage of her mobility and maintain presence in the EXP lane. 2. Windtalker Grants +40% Attack Speed, +20% Movement Speed, and 10% Crit Chance. Synergizes well with her Sacred Orb passive, as the extra attack speed lets her ramp up DPS when orbs are ready. 3. Endless Battle Offers +65 Physical Attack, +250 HP, +10% Cooldown Reduction, +15% Lifesteal, and a passive "Divine Justice" which adds true damage after using a skill. The lifesteal, true damage, and cooldown reduction are very valuable for Freya's sustained fighting style. 4. Blade of Despair (BOD) High Physical Attack to amplify her burst potential when she engages. This item complements her ability to dive in with orbs and deal massive damage quickly. 5. Great Dragon Spear Adds Physical Attack, Critical Chance, and Cooldown Reduction. Helps her spam abilities faster, making her orb usage and skill-based combo more fluid. 6. Queen's Wings Provides +1000 HP, +15 Physical Attack, and a passive that reduces received damage when her health is low, plus additional lifesteal. Excellent for survivability in team fights, allowing her to dive into enemy teams and sustain through pressure. 7. Immortality (Situational / Late Game) Gives HP and Physical Defense, plus a resurrection passive to give her a second life in critical moments. Useful when she is a key damage-dealer or front-line diver, as it provides insurance in late-game teamfights.

FREYA EMBLEM

Assassin Emblem: Rupture, Weapon Master, War Cry This emblem setup is currently the strongest and most updated choice for Revamp Freya, especially after her reworked kit shifted her playstyle toward fast engages, empowered basic attacks, and burst-heavy skirmishes. The Assassin Emblem enhances her ability to dive backliners, secure kills quickly, and reposition safely thanks to the increased movement and attack speed she gains during combat. Tier 1 Talent: Rupture Rupture provides Physical Penetration, which significantly boosts the damage of Freya's empowered basic attacks and skill-based burst. With her new Sacred Orb system, she frequently relies on short trading windows where she must maximize damage output quickly. Rupture lets her cut through early armor values, helping her win lane duels, punish mispositioned heroes, and maintain strong early pressure in the EXP lane or jungle. Tier 2 Talent: Weapon Master Weapon Master enhances Freya's scaling by increasing the bonus Physical Attack she gains from her items. Since Freya's revamp allows her to chain empowered basic attacks very quickly, every point of Physical Attack gained through items becomes more valuable. This talent makes her mid and late-game power spike much stronger, as her damage increases at a faster rate compared to other emblem setups. It also gives her extra value from offensive items such as Windtalker, Corrosion Scythe, or Berserker's Fury. Tier 3 Talent: War Cry War Cry is the core of this entire emblem setup. After triggering damage on enemies, it grants a large Attack Speed boost that perfectly synergizes with Freya's kit. Her Sacred Orbs allow her to enhance basic attacks in rapid succession, and War Cry multiplies the speed of her combos. This makes her chase potential, split-push speed, and teamfight DPS significantly higher. War Cry provides constant pressure once she enters a fight, allowing her to shred squishy heroes almost instantly.

Battle Spell

Inspire Inspire is often considered the best battle spell for Freya in her revamped form. Inspire boosts her attack speed and gives bonus penetration, which synergizes really well with her Sacred Orb mechanic and her enhanced basic attacks. Why it Works Well: When Freya uses her orbs (from her passive), her basic attacks become faster — Inspire magnifies this effect, making her burst and sustained DPS much stronger. It helps her clear waves and trade more efficiently in the early and mid game, since she can deal more damage per second. In duels or skirmishes, the increased attack speed from Inspire helps her repeatedly use her enhanced attacks and stay threatening as long as she has orbs. Many Freya players and guides recommend Inspire because it fits her "fighter / bruiser" identity after revamp, giving her both damage and sustained fights. Alternative Option: Flicker If you prefer a more aggressive or playmaking style, Flicker is also very viable. Freya's revamped kit gives her good engage potential with Leap of Faith (Skill 1), and combining that with Flicker lets her dive in or reposition mid-fight more safely. Use Inspire if you want to maximize DPS and stay strong in duels or long trades. Use Flicker if you want to play aggressively, make surprise engages, or dive into backlines.

STRATEGIES BY PHASE

Early Game (Levels 1-5) Use Leap of Faith (Skill 1) to engage or farm. The leap gives you two Sacred Orbs on cast, so use it early to stack orbs for future fights. Focus on wave-clearing carefully — don't dive too deep yet because your orb regeneration is still low. Use your empowered basic attacks (once you have orbs) to harass enemies safely. If you run out of orbs, go back or play more passively. Staying too long without them makes you weak and vulnerable. Prioritize taking small skirmishes rather than full fights. When both orbs and HP are favorable, you can trade aggressively; otherwise, back off and stack for later. Mid Game (Levels 6-11) Once you have at least a few orbs and a couple of core items (attack speed / penetration / sustain), start rotating to side lanes or join team fights. Your mobility from Valkyrie Slash (Skill 2) lets you dive or reposition quickly. In fights, look for opportunities to leap in with Leap of Faith + Slash combo, then follow up with empowered basic attacks powered by your orbs. Your burst and sustained damage make you very dangerous in 1v1 or 2v2 engagements. Use your Ultimate Valkyrie Descent strategically: target grouped enemies or high-value squishy heroes. When you land and enter Valkyrie Mode, your basic attacks become ranged and heal you, so maintain pressure. Don't be afraid to trade health for value — your sustain from orbs + healing in Valkyrie Mode can often let you win small skirmishes. Late Game (Levels 12+) In late-game team fights, you are a diver / skirmisher. Wait for your frontline to engage, then dive in with Leap of Faith + Slash, using orbs to enhance your damage. Make use of Valkyrie Mode from your ultimate to deal splash damage, heal, and avoid being locked down with CC immunity. Position well so you can hit multiple targets. Target high-damage backline enemies (mages or marksmen) after they're softened. Your burst + sustained damage can quickly eliminate key threats.

QUICK TIPS

1. Master Sacred Orb Management (Freya's Core Mechanic) Freya's entire power spikes, combos, and damage output revolve around properly managing Sacred Orbs, so treat them like a resource equal to mana or energy. 2. Treat Leap of Faith (Skill 1) as Versatile — Not Just Engage Skill 1 is more than a jump: it is Freya's shield, mobility, and crowd control tool. Use it to initiate, escape, or dodge crucial skills. 3. Always Open With Ultimate for Bigger Impact Freya's ultimate gives her splash damage, extra fixed damage, slow effect, and lifesteal. 4. Maintain Aggressive Momentum, but Don't Overcommit Freya is a dive hero, but she can be punished if you dive without backup. Engage only when your tank or roamer is nearby to soak some damage or follow your initiation. 5. Chain Skill 2 Properly — Don't Spam Mindlessly Skill 2 is spammable but requires 2 Orbs per cast. Cast Skill 2 only when you can follow up with basic attacks, ensuring you regain orb efficiency. 6. Abuse Her Lifesteal During Valkyrie State In Valkyrie mode, your basic attacks heal you for a significant amount. 7. Positioning Is Key — Come From the Side or Backline Never start fights from the front; you will get CC'd immediately. 8. Assume You're the Main Damage Diver — Time Your Entry Freya is a bruiser who acts like a semi-assassin. Let your tank initiate first. Enter half a second after your tank's CC lands — this ensures you get maximum uptime on enemies. 9. Always Track Key Enemy CC Before Diving Freya loses most fights when she is stunned or suppressed mid-dive. Keep track of dangerous skills: Franco hook, Khufra bounce, Valir push, Kaja ultimate, etc. 10. Choose Targets Wisely As Freya, your goal is to create chaos by removing enemy backliners quickly. Prioritize MM > Mage > Assassin > Fighter > Tank 11. Manage Your Defensive CDs (Shield Timing) The shield from Skill 1 is crucial for surviving early parts of fights.

Best With Tigreal

100% co-op win rate

Tigreal: The Perfect Frontline Partner for Freya Tigreal is one of the strongest tank initiators in MLBB, and he pairs exceptionally well with Freya due to his ability to group enemies, disrupt formations, and create the ideal environment for Freya to dive in. Why Tigreal Is Highly Compatible: Tigreal can start fights with Initiate then Flicker then Implosion, pulling multiple enemies together. This sets up Freya to follow with her Ultimate landing slow, Skill 1 knockup, and multiple Skill 2 slashes. His Shield and CC uptime keeps enemies locked long enough for Freya's Orb-based combos to deal maximum damage. When Freya jumps into a fight, she often becomes the primary target. Tigreal's peel mechanics (Slow, Taunt, Knockback) help keep damage off her, allowing her to stay in Valkyrie mode longer and heal through basic attacks. Tigreal also enhances Freya's mid-game teamfight dominance. When Tigreal hits a multi-man ultimate, Freya can clean up entire teams fast due to splash damage from Valkyrie Descent.

Watch Out For Khufra

20% counter win rate

Khufra: The Ultimate Anti-Dive Stopper Khufra is one of the strongest counters to Freya because his entire kit is designed to shut down heroes who rely on jumping, dashing, or diving into the backline. Freya's Skill 1 (Leap of Faith) and her Ultimate dive both become extremely risky when a Khufra is present. Why Khufra Counters Freya: Khufra's Bouncing Ball stops dashes and leaps, which means Freya cannot reliably engage or escape once he activates this skill. When Freya tries to jump in, Khufra simply transforms into Bouncing Ball and locks her in place, preventing her from chaining Skill 2 effectively. His skill kit has multiple CC layers (knock-ups, slows, immobilizations), which Freya hates because she is very vulnerable to CC. Her Orbs and DPS mean nothing if she cannot move or attack. Khufra's Furious Strikes and Ultimate create a control zone that prevents Freya from reaching enemy backlines, forcing her to fight in an unfavorable position.
